• SOLD Black Hills Gold Leaf Applique Wide Band

This item is out of stock

A beautiful quality ring that is a certain style from South Dakota in North America. This style is known as 'Black Hills Gold' and was first created in the 1870s during the Black Hills Gold Rush. This type of design features different colours of gold leaves and grapes in different formations and you can see this design mirrors those in history as it has a real Victorian feel about it. This particular piece is a lovely quality wide gold wedding band. It is made from solid 10kt gold and has the original gold fineness mark as well as the makers mark, Landstroms, a dominant producer of this style of jewellery. There are import marks for London on the inside of the shank, in addition to the original 10kt gold stamp.

The ring is a lovely quality weight and has appliques of leaves to the top in two colours of gold - yellow and rose. At the centre of the leaves, is a little bunch of grapes. In fact, this style is still in production today with little difference over time. I believe this example to be from the late 20th Century.

This ring is a fairly large size and makes quite a statement on the hand, whilst being very comfortable to wear with its low profile.
