SOLD Antique French 18ct Gold Paste Cluster Ring
A beautiful ring from the late Victorian period, c1890s. The ring is made from 18ct gold and silver and is French in origin. It has the eagles head hallmark that denotes 18ct gold in France on the outside of the shank. To the top is a wonderful cluster of paste stones with a larger paste at the centre. The paste overall has a lovely sparkle to it and this is a beautifully constructed ring with very little wear. The shank is a classic French ridged design and it finishes the ring beautifully.
Paste is a special type of cut glass that was used during the Georgian and Victorian period as an alternative to diamonds. It was cut in such a way as to create beautiful sparkle, mimicking the real thing.
