SOLD Antique Turquoise Enamel Butterfly Locket
A wonderful and striking locket from the late Victorian period, c1890s. The locket is made from 9ct gold to the back and the front and the inside is gold coloured metal. This was a common method of constructing lockets during this period. To the front is a beautiful, vibrant turquoise enamel that has a little butterfly design at the centre. The butterfly is highlighted with a natural seed pearl wing and two little red garnets to contrast the body and the other wing. Its antennae and legs are picked out in white enamel. To the back, the locket has a plain cartouche where some initials could be engraved if required and inside are two oval frames with the original glass. These can be removed to place your own photos behind.
The locket will come on a 14kt gold fill chain similar to the one pictured.
