• SOLD Art Deco 9ct Gold Scarab Beetle Stud Earrings

This item is out of stock

A lovely pair of scarab beetle earrings from the Art Deco period, c1920s. The earrings are made from 9ct gold and have beautiful scarab beetles set at the centre of fairly chunky frames. The scarabs have the beautiful vibrant green irridescence that made these beetles so popular in jewellery. These types of scarabs became popular in the Victorian period and revived again in the 1920s due to the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922. As is often the case, the scarabs are set with little chunky triangle claws and the earrings have an open back to reveal the little legs of the beetle.
