SOLD Art Deco Silver Gilt Enamel Sarcophagus Pendant
A beautiful example of an Egypitan revival pendant from the Art Deco period, c1920s. The pendant is made in the form of a sarcophagus or Egyptian coffin from 800 silver and has pretty enamel touches to the outside. The inside has been gilded to appear gold and has a little removable mummy inside the sarcophagus, which also has enamel details.
Pendants such as these became popular in the 1920s and 30s after the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922 when there was a huge revival for all things Egyptian. This is a lovely example with its original mummy inside. A fabulous addition to any stack of charms or worn alone.
