SOLD Art Deco Sterling Silver Marcasite Watch Ring
A pretty and original watch ring from the late Art Deco period, dated 1937. The ring is made from sterling silver and is fully hallmarked on the inside and the side of the case. The watch has a pretty scalloped edge and the whole top is set with glistening marcasite. Marcasite was commonly used during this period in many costume pieces. It is made from pyrite and has a wonderful sparkle.
The case of the ring has beautiful etching all the way around and a little glass cabochon sapphire rests in the handle of the wide up mechanism. The watch can be wound and does work, keeping fairly good time for at least 12 hours. The watch mechanism is marked as Swiss made and with a 15 jewel mechanism. The number of jewels in a watch, beginning at 7 and moving up to 23, is a sign of quality.
PLEASE NOTE: This piece should be kept away from water.
