• SOLD Edwardian 14kt Gold Carved Onyx & Diamond Ring

This item is out of stock

A stunning ring from the late Edwardian period, c1910. The ring is made from 14kt gold and has a wonderful onyx gemstone at the centre, which has been carved to resemble a flower. The onyx is in beautiful condition with no chips and at the centre is a millegrain set diamond. The diamond measures approx 5.2mm in the setting meaning that it weighs around 1/2 a carat. It is approximately H colour and I1 clarity, though its sparkle and brilliance is very good and it makes a lovely contrast to the black of the onyx. The gemstones are set in a decorative gold mount and the ring has pretty carved shoulders. I have a small suspicion that the shank and the top could be a marriage, though they are an excellent match and could very well be original. Either way, any metalwork as been done expertly and this is a wonderful decorative ring.
