SOLD Edwardian 15ct Gold Yellow Tourmaline & Diamond Ring
A beautiful and unusual ring from the turn of the century, dated Birmingham 1900. The ring is made from 15ct gold and has a wonderful yellow tourmaline set at the centre. The yellow tourmaline has such an unusual colour and is rather striking with its diamond surround. I believe the tourmaline may have originally been surrounded by pearls and these have been replaced by diamonds at some point. The diamonds have a more modern cut than the marked age of the ring and they sit in closed back settings in a style that is more often associated with seed pearls. The sparkle of the diamonds offsets the tourmaline beautifully and this unusual combination really works.
The shank has pretty etched shoulders and the gold itself has a very slight rosy tint. A truly stunning ring.
