SOLD Edwardian 18ct Gold Wood Opal & Diamond Ring
An incredible unusual and rare ring from the Edwardian period, c1905. The ring has a large domed wood opal set in a millegrain setting. Wood opal is formed via an amazing natural process where natural opal begins to replace petrified wood. The gemstone is a variety of opal and is cold to the touch. The overriding appearance of the gem in this instance is a soft brown colour with pretty rainbow flashes running through it. The most vibrant flashes are predominantly green, but you can see hints of blue, orange and red too. The centrepiece is flanked by two single cut diamonds and the ring is made from 18ct gold.
