SOLD Edwardian Opal & Diamond Drop Earrings
A beautiful pair of earrings from the Edwardian period, circa 1905. The earrings have an elegant design, typical of the period, with a lovely little diamond to the top and a delicate chain beneath. At the bottom of the chain is a wonderful opal. The opals have enormous amounts of colour and they both shine bright in their settings. The movement of colour across these incredible stones is truly lovely, particularly for such petite stones.
The stones are set in white metal, which tests as palladium. Palladium is a lightweight member of the platinum family and has a similar colour and appearance. Its use in antique jewellery is a little rare and it is always lovely to find a piece where it has been used. The hooks of the earrings are 15ct gold. These earrings are all original and in beautiful condition. A wonderful addition to any collection.
