A wonderful ring from the early 20th Century, c1920s. The ring is likely an early conversion piece; perhaps the arrow was once a brooch that has been converted into a ring, as it is certainly a marriage of two styles. The arrow is very much Victorian in style and has wonderful rose diamonds set throughout in silver with an 18ct yellow gold back. It was customary during this period to set diamonds in silver as white metal shows the diamonds in their best light and platinum was not used in jewellery at this time. The shank is much later in style edging towards the late Edwardian/early Art Deco period. It is made from platinum with diamonds that err more towards the transitional cut. The cultured pearl at the centre could also be considered to be a later addition, perhaps replacing a diamond, as they became more widely available in the 1920s.

Whichever way these two styles found their way together, they make a happy marriage and an incredible ring; unusual in style and eye catching on the hand.
