SOLD Georgian Black Enamel & Rose Diamond Memorial Ring
A beautiful ring from the late Georgian period. The ring is made from 18kt gold and is English in origin with full English hallmarks dating it to London 1833. To the front is a wonderful gold shield design, which is mirrored in a central black enamel design. At the centre of this is a rose cut diamond set in silver as was customary of the period. The diamond is slightly askew in the setting, but is very secure.
Flanking the wonderful shield are the intricate shoulders with beautiful scroll work and triangular black enamel. The shank is ridged, common in rings of this period and type, and the ring looks to be in original condition with no evidence of sizing. On the inside of the shank, on either side of the hallmark, is an inscription commemorating 'Sarah Perry, died 6th Sept 1831 aged 73'. A wonderful piece of history and in excellent condition.
