SOLD Georgian Emerald & Diamond Trilogy Ring
An unusual and well loved Georgian ring from the early 19th Century. The ring tests as 14ct gold and has a rectangular natural emerald at the centre. The emerald is set in a closed back setting and is fairly included, though it is lovely to find a Georgian ring with an emerald as they were fairly scarce during this period. The closed backs show evidence of previous etching or floral gold work and this has worn over time. To either side are diamonds, one is an old cut and the other a rose cut. The rose cut could be a replacement to the diamond that was there originally, though it is difficult to say for sure whether this is the case. The diamonds are set in silver settings as was customary of the period, though their look from the side does not match and it is likely that one side has been reworked at some point in antiquity. This ring has certainly been well loved and possibly re-shanked at some stage, and the price has been adjusted accordingly. If you are interested in owning an interesting piece of history with its own secret story, this could be the one for you.
This ring should be worn with care and is not for daily use.
