SOLD Georgian Garnet and Black Jet Memorial Ring
This stunning ring is from the Georgian period and is made from 9kt gold. It has a beautiful cabochon garnet at the centre, which is a deep red in colour. Surrounding this is a beautiful gold edge and a row of faceted square cut black jet. The setting covers the top of the finger and is flanked by split shoulders, which have individually set round black jet, graduated in size and sitting between the split design. A lovely beveled shank completes the ring.
To the back of the setting, there is an engraving with the words 'Tho's Alexander Esq, Ob 25 Sep 1810, At 56'; a tribute to the man to which this ring was made in memory of. The ring is in remarkable condition, particularly for its age, and looks marvellous on the finger.
