SOLD Georgian Style Garnet & Rose Diamond Ring
A lovely little ring based on a design from the Georgian period. In fact, potentially the centre is an original Georgian part, but it is difficult to know this for sure. The ring has a beautiful rich red garnet at the centre, which is rectangular in shape and a classic design for the period. On each shoulder are two little rose cut diamonds. The stones have all been set in silver as was customary of the time, and unusually the diamonds have open back settings, where normally the stones would likely have been set in closed back settings. The shank tests as 15ct gold and although very likely an antique shank, it feels later in period than the central deisgn. However this ring came to be, any changes that have been made have been done with expert skill. This is a lovely ring that demonstrates wonderful charm.
