SOLD Georgian Paste Memorial Ring
An interesting and intriguing early Georgian ring, dated 1742. This ring is actually a costume piece in that it is made from only metal and glass paste, though its style could not be more recognisable. A classic from this period, with the lovely scalloped band and a fully carved inscription around the outside: 'Sarah Baker OBT May 3 1742 AET 9'. The paste at the top has been foil backed and has a slight remaining pink glow beneath the surface. The paste is fairly rubbed, though other than this, the ring is in lovely condition.
A true piece of history that would add wonder to any Georgian collection, particularly as it is costume, making it unusual in that instance alone.
