SOLD Late Edwardian Ruby & Emerald Trilogy Ring
An unusual ring from the late Edwardian period, c1910s. The ring is made from 9ct gold that has a slight rosy tint to it. It has three rectangular stones set in rub over settings. The stones are lovely and bright and make an unusual combination. The outer two gemstones are synthetic rubies. They have the most beautiful vibrant pink colour and make a real statement. A method to create synthetic rubies and sapphires was created in the late 1800s and they began being produced more readily in the early 1900s. These are fine examples and have all the properties of natural stones with an extra vibrancy of colour.
The centre stone is believed to be an emerald and it has a lovely depth of colour. It is a lovely contrast to the bright pinks and this unusual combination makes a very eye-catching piece.
