SOLD Late Georgian Hand Ring with Garnet and Pearls
This wonderful ring is from the late Georgian/early Victorian period and it is made from 18kt gold. It has such an elegant hand that holds a pretty heart of jewels. The 'jewels' are a wonderful heart shaped almandine garnet that is topped by three natural pearls. They create the classic motif of a heart topped by a crown. The piece would have been given to a loved one and represents love, loyalty and friendship.
The ring comes in the box that it came with. This could be the original box as it is of the period, but there is no way of knowing this for sure. It is fully hallmarked on the inside of the band, though the hallmarks have rubbed. You can see that it was assayed in Birmingham, England, but the date mark is difficult to read. The remnants of the date letter indicate that it is from the 1830s.
