SOLD Late Victorian 9ct Gold Fox & Crop Necklace
A wonderful necklace from the turn of the last century, c1900s. The necklace is made from 9ct gold and depicts a fox's head on a hunting crop. The fox has a lovely expression and little pink rubies for eyes. There is some beautiful texture to the fur and the piece has a lot of character. Sporting pursuits from the period were often depicted in jewellery and at the time, hunting was a popular pastime. Perhaps this particular piece started life as something else, possibly a brooch, which would be more in keeping with styles of the time. This one appears to have been altered expertly in antiquity and has an antique gold chain to finish the necklace.
