• SOLD Victorian 14kt Gold Lion Head Diamond Pendant

This item is out of stock

This incredible eye-catching pendant is from the Victorian period. It is made from 14kt gold and depicts a 'fierce' lion gargoyle face. Gargoyles became popular in architecture in the 19th century due to the gothic revival and the Victorians loved to demonstrate their interests in all aspects of their life, including their jewellery.

At the centre of the lion's mouth is a beautiful old mine cut diamond that measures approximately 0.1 of a carat. He has tiny cabochon red garnets for eyes and the wonderful fur of the animal is represented in the gold beautifully.  This particular pendant is likely to have started life as a stock pin; it came to us as it is and works wonderfully as a pendant. It hangs on a more modern solid 9ct gold chain. The pendant could be sold without the chain if preferred. Please message me for details.
