• SOLD Victorian 15ct Gold Bird & Tree Engraved Heart Locket

This item is out of stock

A pretty heart locket from the late Victorian period, c1900. The locket is made from solid 15ct gold and has beautiful engraving to the front and the back. The front of the locket has a pretty bird, possibly a nightingale, sitting in some foliage. The nightingale came to symbolise love and belonging and would be a fitting engraving for this elegant heart. To the back is an engraving of the 'tree of life', said to represent the connection between earth and the afterlife. The engravings are very beautiful and expertly done. The front of the heart slides out of position and can be completely removed to place your photo inside. The fitting of this is very secure and it stays in place well.

This locket will come on a 14kt gold fill chain as pictured
