SOLD Victorian 18ct Gold Foil Back Citrine Teardrop Pendant
A beautiful and unusual pendant from the Victorian period, c1850s. The pendant is French in origin and made from solid 18kt gold, exhibiting the eagle head hallmark on the little jump ring. The pendant has a beautiful faceted citrine that has been cut as a pear or teardrop shape. This is set in a closed back setting and has been foiled behind the stone, a common practice from the 18th Century into the mid 19th Century. The orange/red coloured foil backing gives the beautiful yellow citrine a fiery glow and adds a lovely point of difference to this otherwise simple piece.
The pendant will come on a 14kt gold fill chain similar to the one pictured.
