• SOLD Victorian 18ct Gold Sardonyx 'In Memory Of' Ring

This item is out of stock

An interesting and unusual mourning ring from the Victorian period, dated 1878. The ring has been beautifully made with the words 'in memory of' written around the band in a black enamel zigzag. The shank is sandwiched between two lovely repoussé edges and the enamel is in excellent condition. The centre of the ring has an oval sardonyx stone that has also been set in a repoussé design. The sardonyx has been left plain, though it may have intended to have an intaglio carved into it.

To the back is a removable locket back with woven hair behind. A pretty and collectible ring.
