SOLD Victorian 9ct Gold Back & Front Horseshoe Locket
A lovely chunky locket from the Victorian period, c1880s. The locket is made from 9ct gold to the back and the front, and the sides and internal frames are gold coloured metal. This is a common practice of construction for lockets during this period. This is a lovely chunky example with a beautiful horseshoe design to the front with a fairly high relief. To the back is a plain shield design that could be etched with initials if desired. Surrounding the front and the back is a wonderful chased design in the gold and this has a lovely look on the neck. Inside are frames on either side that can be removed to place your own photos behind. It has a sprung clasp bail meaning that it could be attached to any charm bracelet or necklace easily as well as being worn on a normal chain.
This locket will come on a 14kt gold fill chain as pictured.
