• SOLD Victorian 9ct Gold Compass Ball Charm Pendant

This item is out of stock

A wonderful charm pendant from the Victorian period, c1880s. The pendant is made from 9ct gold and has been made in the shape of a ball. The ball opens on a spinner type hinge and reveals a compass inside. The compass appears to still work and points to North correctly. The ball is a lovely size and stays shut when worn on a chain, due to the counter balance of the design. It has wonderful etching all over its surface, typical to this period. The compass itself is made from gold coloured metal and set into its solid gold home.

The chain in the pictures is for display only.

Materials - 9ct Gold (tested). Bail is not solid gold, made from gold coloured metal.

    Age - C1880s

Size - The ball measures approx 21mm wide at its widest point.

Condition - Good. There are two notable dents in the top of the ball, please see the pictures. These are not overly obvious when worn due to the etching all over the pendant. Wear commensurate with age.
