• SOLD Victorian Amethyst Rose of Sharon Ring with Rose Diamond

This item is out of stock

A pretty ring from the Victorian period featuring the 'Rose of Sharon'. These rings were associated with the American Civil War and were given as a love token to a wife or sweetheart by a soldier. They remained fashionable after the Civil War due to their sentimental symbolism.

This particular ring was likely made a little later than the Civil War from 10kt rose gold, and has a beautifully faceted amethyst with the carving of the Rose of Sharon at the center. The rose has been foiled with gold and the flower itself is represented by a tiny rose cut diamond. This ring has lovely dominant claws and pretty carved shoulders with a fairly wide gold band. The rose gold offsets the amethyst beautifully and it is in excellent condition.
