• SOLD Victorian Blue Enamel & Rose Diamond Statement Ring

This item is out of stock

This stunning ring is a real statement piece. Made in the early Victorian period, c1850s - 60s, it is super quality and looks incredible on the hand. It has a scallop edged central design that is covered with blue enamel in excellent condition, with a silver setting applied to the top. The silver setting holds wonderful rose diamonds that catch the light beautifully and the setting has been made to look like a circle of tulips. Tulips were given as a declaration of love and were highly regarded flowers from the late 16th Century onwards. It is said that tulip bulbs would fetch huge prices throughout the 17th Century and the flower was much admired throughout Europe, particularly in The Netherlands.

The central design is flanked with elaborate shoulders, also made in the shape of tulips with rose diamonds set in silver. The shank is of the utmost quality and every detail on this ring has been given the highest regard; from the underside of the central design to the lower half of the shank. A truly magnificent and rare item in excellent condition. The ring has a glass locket back that has a little damage to one side. The glass is original and incredibly secure; I believe it would be very difficult to remove. The gold is not hallmarked, but has been tested as 10kt gold. The ring comes in an antique ring box, though I do not believe it to be the original.
