• SOLD Victorian Cut Steel & Turquoise Glass Forget-Me-Not Locket

This item is out of stock

A pretty and large statement locket from the Victorian period, c1870s. The locket is a costume piece and is made from wonderful vibrant turquoise glass in a claw metal setting. Surrounding this is a lovely array of turquoise glass forget-me-not flowers with little cut steel centres. The locket is complete with a flower studded bail and a central cut steel design. To the back is a hinged door, which has lost its original glass, though it still works well and a photo could be placed behind the frame. A firm piece of plastic could be used to protect the photo. Forget-me-nots were a symbol of romance and given, as the name suggests, to a loved one as a token of enduring love. The locket is a lovely large size and makes a real statement on the neck. It would look perfect on a long silver chain.
