SOLD Victorian Deep Garnet Heart Locket
An absolute gem of a locket in the shape of a heart from the mid Victorian period, c1860s. The locket has the most wonderful cabochon garnet at the centre that has been cut in the shape of a heart and is a lovely deep stone. The garnets surrounding this beauty are faceted and they all have the luscious deep red colour you would expect. The bale also has a trio of garnets set in a trefoil arrangement completing the locket beautifully.
To the back is a glass door that opens to allow you to put your own momento or photo behind. A wonderful piece in excellent condition. The stones are all set in garnet gold, which is a very low grade gold often used at this time to set these beautiful stones.
The locket will come on an 18" 14kt gold fill chain. The shorter chain on the model is not part of the piece.
