SOLD Victorian Flaming Witches Heart Amethyst & Diamond Ring
A wonderful ring form the mid Victorian period, c1860s. The ring is made from 18ct gold and silver with a wonderful pear shaped amethyst at the centre. The amethyst is beautifully faceted and allows the light to bounce around in the fairly large gemstone. It is a lovely deep purple that looks wonderful on the hand and the pear shape represents a heart. Surrounding this heart is a band of silver flames that is studded throughout with little diamond chips. The larger flames to the top have two diamonds set into them, whilst the smaller flames round the side have only one in each. At the point of the heart is a little silver kink, also set with a diamond, that gives the ring the witches heart shape.
A flaming heart is a symbol of passion and deep love, while the witches heart shape indicates that someone has been 'bewitched' with love. Such a beautiful and unusual ring with a fabulous sentiment.
