• SOLD Victorian Silver Gilt and Coral Drop Earrings

    A pretty pair of earrings from the Victorian period, c1870. The earrings have wonderful bright natural coral beads that have been set along a chain with wonderful larger corals set on flower style backs at the bottom. The earrings are made from silver that has been gilded with gold to give it a lovely soft gold glow; this is commonly known as  silver gilt, or vermeil in modern terms. The orange of the coral is truly beautiful and these are wonderful examples of this beautiful organic gem.

    Age - C1870s

    Size - The bottom corals measure approx 10mm in diameter. The earrings are approx 44mm long

    Condition - Very good. A little fade to the gilding. The butterfly backs are solid 8ct gold (marked 333).
