• SOLD Victorian Silver Gilt Collar Necklace

This item is out of stock

An absolutely stunning book chain necklace from the Victorian period, c1870s. The chain is made from sterling silver that has been gilded to give it a soft brushed gold appearance. This is known as silver gilt. The necklace is made from many overlapping 'triangular' shaped links that have been linked by lovely chunky links at the top. This gives the necklace such wonderful movement and a very tactile feel. Such a beautiful example and in immaculate condition. The necklace has a lovely large bolt ring that can be worn at the back or front of the neck to allow charms or a locket to be added as would have originally been the case.

Please note, the appearance of the necklace in the first picture is slightly more gold than in real life. The other pictures are more true to life.
