SOLD Victorian Sterling Silver Paste Cluster Earrings
A pretty pair of earrings from the mid Victorian period, c1860s. The earrings are made from sterling silver. They have beautiful paste stones set to the front and these have been set in a combination of invisible settings and pinched collets giving them a lovely, slightly scalloped edged design. The paste are beautiful and bright and the earrings glisten prettily in the ear.
Paste stones were used in antique jewellery to mimic their gemstone counterparts, such as diamonds in this instance. The art of paste jewellery became almost as popular as the real thing and they are still highly sought after pieces today.
