SOLD Victorian Sterling Silver Pave Turquoise Heart Locket
A wonderful locket from the late Victorian period, c1880s. The pendant is made from sterling silver and is in the shape of a heart. The entire front of the pendant is studded with pave set turquoise gemstones. The turquoise are all natural and have taken on a greenish hue over time due to the wear and age of this piece. All stones appear to be original, though there is one that is more vibrant in colour than the others, in the top left of the heart. They are all individually claw set correctly with no hint of glue as can often be found in pieces of a similar nature. The locket has its original turquoise studded bail and has a lovely frame to the back with its original glass that could be removed to place your own photo or momento behind.
The locket hangs on an antique sterling silver chain that measures approx 17" long and is included in the price. The clasp of this chain is original and a little stiff. It is a bolt ring that needs to be closed manually, though once shut, the clasp is very secure.
