SOLD Victorian Turquoise & Pearl Shell Silver Pendant
A stunning large pendant from the Victorian period, c1860. The pendant is made from silver and is in the form of a seashell. The shell is a beautiful fan design with graduated natural turquoise set throughout and little seed pearls set in the ends of the scroll at the top of the shell. Hanging from the shell are 5 little stems of pearl and turquoise and the piece is finished with a turquoise set flower.
The piece appears to be all original with possibly one turquoise in the shell having been replaced, though this is not obvious in the slightest. The design speaks of the fashion for natural elements being depicted in jewellery during this period and would be a marvellous collectors piece.
