9ct Gold Snake Ring with Garnet
An interesting snake ring from the early 20th Century with a Chester hallmark for 1906. The ring is made of 9ct gold and has a full English hallmark. In my opinion, the main band ring is original to 1906 and the gold snake has been coiled around the shank at a later date, possibly during the 1960s/70s as it has this sort of style. The snake has been added expertly with gold solder and is entirely secure. The main band is a little rosier in colour, whilst the snake has a mildly more yellow tone. This is subtle and a lovely contrast. The face of the snake has a good expression and a deep red garnet has been set into the head.
