Antique 9ct Opalescent Glass Drop Earrings

£0.00
sold out

A lovely and elegant pair of earrings from the 1920s. The earrings are made from 9ct gold and have little opalescent glass drops in glass ‘cages’. The beads have the wonderful look of a translucent opal and this type of glass was often used during this period in jewellery. The drops are faceted allowing the light to bounce around the stone and are held securely in their settings. These earrings likely started life with hooks attached directly into the glass as you can see the remnants of this at the top of the beads. The cages are an alternative setting and look to have been made during this original period.

Details:

Materials - 9ct Gold (tested), Opalescent Glass

Age - c1920s

Size - The glass drops measure approx 15.5mm long excluding the hooks and gold settings, by 7mm wide. The earrings are approx 30mm long in total

Condition - Very good. Glass has no chips or scrapes. One drop is very slightly larger than the other, noted for accuracy only and extremely marginal.

Weight - 3.04g the pair
