Antique Man in the Moon Pendant

A pretty and rare pendant from the early 20th Century, c1915. The pendant is double sided and has a wonderful man in the moon face to both sides. The face is made from glass with a pretty blue iridescence within and backed by mother of pearl. The faces are held within a 15ct gold frame engraved with the words ‘St Aubin’, which is a town in Jersey, UK.

The pendant hangs on a 9ct gold period chain. The chain is a fine cable link and measures approx 1.1mm wide. The chain is around 15 1/2” long. This is a delicate item and should be worn with care.

Materials - 15ct Gold, 9ct Gold (both tested), Glass

Age - Early 20th Century

Size - The pendant measures approx 12mm in diameter. It is around 8mm deep, nose to nose. Chain details as above.

Condition - Good. Some wear commensurate with age. Two very minor chips to the edge of the glass, one pictured, the other very similar. A little portion of MOP has chipped within leaving a black area to one side - this is not a chip to the glass.

Weight - 2g pendant and chain together. 1.07g pendant only.
