Antique Rose Cut Diamond Ring

sold out

An intriguing ring from the Victorian period (1837-1901). The ring has five lovely rose cut diamonds, all differing in shape and size and set in silver. This arrangement and setting looks Georgian to me, whilst the shank is much later. The ring could be a marriage where the original rose cut diamonds in their silver setting were made much earlier in the 1800s and this was then paired with the lovely solid gold shank and mount. If this is so, the work has been completed expertly and the ring is a wonderful solid piece. The gold tests as 9ct gold and the ring feels very solid and secure on the finger. The diamonds have the wonderful moody appearance often associated with earlier diamond pieces and the ring has a lovely charm.
