Edwardian Man in the Moon Pendant
A stunning pendant from the early 20th Century. It looks as though this piece is a marriage with an Edwardian silver frame set with clear paste and topped with a bow, filled with a 9ct gold mounted man in the moon face. The Edwardian frame is dated Chester 1902 and would have originally been a glass fronted locket. In its place is a wonderful man in the moon face made from glass. He has a lovely expression and is full of character.
The face sits in rose gold, which shines through the soft brown glass. This has been painted over with an iridescent paint that is a wonderful vibrant blue with purple highlights. The glass has been made to resemble saphiret, a popular manufactured glass during this period. The effect is truly stunning and, although the make is a little rudimentary, the pendant has plenty of charm.
