Early Victorian Rose Diamond Row Ring

sold out

A wonderful stormy ring from the early Victorian period, c1850s. The ring has a double row of moody diamonds, mainly rose cuts with one table cut to one end, with eight larger diamonds and six pairs of smaller diamonds spaced in between. They are set in silver and very unusually have a millegrain edge. This technique has been around for centuries, though it reached popularity in Britain during the early part of the 20th Century when platinum became popular for settings. It is unusual to find this technique in older pieces and in silver, and it gives a certain refinement to the ring. The ring is complete with a 15ct gold shank and is in lovely condition.
