Edwardian 'Lucky Star' Enamel Locket

What an absolute stunner of a piece this is! This rare and wonderful locket is made from solid 18ct gold and has a registered number to the back; it is a little worn, though it looks as if it reads ‘Rd338855’. To the front, the locket has the popular phrase ‘This be your lucky star’ picked out in black enamel letters. The centre of the locket has the most beautiful cloud-like enamel with hints of blue, lilac and a touch of soft pink giving the ‘sky’ the look of dusk. At the centre top is a star shaped setting set with a little old mine cut diamond. Inside, there is a frame that can be removed to place your own photo behind. This will have clear perspex added to the frame. The locket is lovely quality and has a hidden hinge, always a marker of fine craftsmanship. It clips shut firmly.

Such a wonderful and rare locket. Ideal for the collector. This locket should be worn with care due to the enamel.

Details:

Materials - 18ct Gold (tested), Enamel, Diamond

Age - C1910s

Size - The locket measures approx 17.2mm in diameter. The diamond is around 2.2mm in diameter

Condition - Good. The enamel has some damage, most notably to the top left corner, see the pictures. In my opinion, this is not particularly noticeable as it fits in well with the cloud look. There is a line hole near the hinge - this does not make it all the way to the inside of the locket and is only on the outer shell. The hinge is in excellent working order and not affected by this.

Weight - 5.25g
