Edwardian Paperclip Watch Chain with Button Fitting
A beautiful chain from the early Edwardian period, c1905. The chain is made from solid 9ct gold and has a pleasing weight despite its fine link. The links are all solid gold and are small paperclip links. The chain is complete with a dog clip clasp that sits at the end of a section of standard cable chain. On the other end is a button fitting. This fitting can be placed over a button and pulled into the smaller section to hang securely on the button. This would have been worn on a waistcoat as a watch chain. The chain can be worn in a few ways to alter the length (some pictured). The dog clip has a fairly small opening and would only allow fine bails to pass through. Any larger pendants would need a connector to attach them to the chain. The button fitting could be removed and this would allow for pendants to be threaded onto the chain if preferred.
A beautiful quality chain with plenty of character.
