Edwardian Silver Vinaigrette Pendant

sold out

A lovely pendant from the Edwardian period, dated Chester 1904. It is made from sterling sliver with English hallmarks and a makers mark CC. This looks to be Colen Hewer from Cheshire. It has a pretty flowing edge with engraved decoration to the back and the front. One side has a floral design, whilst the other has a plain circular cartouche for engraving if required. Inside, the silver has been gilded, as is customary with vinaigrettes, and there is a decorative grille that opens on a hinge to one side. The grille lifts to reveal the original piece of cotton. This still has a scent to it and it is lovely to find one in such beautiful original condition. This particular vinaigrette is also on the smaller side making it ideal worn as a pendant, as shown.

The chains pictured are for display only.

Details:

Materials - Sterling Silver (full hallmarks, inside top and bottom)

Age - Dated Chester 1904

Size - The vinaigrette measures approx 24mm long excluding the bail, by 18mm wide.

Weight - 9.81g
