Georgian Emerald & Diamond Ring
A lovely ring from the late Georgian period, c1830s. The ring is made from 18ct gold with silver settings and has a pretty emerald at the centre. This is set in a rectangular gold setting and surrounded by mixed old cut diamonds with one little peruzzi cut diamond poking its tip up. The emerald sits in a closed back setting, while unusually, the diamonds are in open back settings. The ring is complete with a decorative split shank that is plain towards the back. Perhaps the bottom half of the shank has been replaced at some point, though this has been done expertly and it is impossible to know for sure.
