sold out

A wonderful and unusual locket from the early 19th Century, inscribed on the back with ‘James Thompson Died 6th January 1814’. The locket has a beautiful circle of french jet (black glass) stones surrounding a central glass locket. This sits on a border of white enamel, finished with a little circle of black enamel. To the back, the glass door is hinged and opens to allow you to add your own photo should you wish to. The locket has the original Georgian bail and is a lovely example. A brooch hinge has been added to one side on the back, though this is not complete and does not detract from the overall look or hang of the piece.

The chain pictured is for display only.

Details:

Materials - 9ct Gold (tested), French Jet, Enamel, Glass

Age - Dated 1814

Size - The locket measures approx 23mm in diameter (this excludes the bail). The central glass locket measures approx 13.5mm in diameter

Condition - Very good. Wear commensurate with age. A little damage to the white enamel, the most notable pictured. Not visible when worn.

Weight - 5.62g
