A wonderful locket from the Georgian period, c1780s. The locket is made from 9ct gold that has a slight rosy appearance. It has a wonderful frame of flat cut garnets that follow the line of the heart shape as well as filling the beautiful crowned top. The garnets have a soft pink to red colour and are square cut. They are particularly pretty in the top of the crown as they have been set off centre.

A rock crystal locket sits within the frame of garnets and opens on a hinge to the reverse. The locket can be worn as a pendant or a brooch and is in excellent condition. It hangs on a period chain made from 18ct gold. The chain has a foxtail link, said to be one of the strongest link styles, and a secure bar clasp.
