Georgian Iberian Foiled Citrine Drop Earrings
A beautiful pair of earrings from the late 18th Century, likely Spanish in origin. The earrings are made from silver and have stunning foil backed citrines set in oval and pear shaped settings. The colour of the foil is incredibly striking, a vibrant red/orange colour, and these earrings create a little fire for your earlobes. The silver points on either end have been pinched to create a design in the metal and they complete the look perfectly. The earrings fasten back to front though they are easy to put in and very comfortable to wear.
Details:
Materials - Silver (tested), Citrine, Paste
Age - Late 18th Century
Size - The earrings measure approx 40mm long. They are 8mm wide at the centrepoint.
Condition - Good. One pear shaped stone is paste rather than citrine. Perhaps it was made this way as there is a little wear to the paste and it certainly appears to have been added in antiquity. One of the top citrines has a knick in it.
Weight - 4.6g the pair.
