Georgian Ruby Heart & Diamond Ring

sold out

A wonderful ring from the Georgian period, early 19th Century. The ring is made from solid 18ct gold and appears to be all original. At the centre is a petite heart shaped ruby. The ruby is a lovely deep pink colour and is flanked by a trefoil of old cut diamonds on either side. The diamonds are hand cut and sit fairly high in their settings. The shank is the original Georgian shank and has remnants of some lettering. Only the number ‘53’ is legible and I believe there may have been a tiny bit of black enamel to the shoulders around the lettering. It is very difficult to know this for sure as there is no trace left. The shank is decorative in design, though there is surface wear, particularly to the base.

Details:

Materials - 18ct Gold (marked), Ruby, Diamonds

Age - Early 19th Century

Size - The ruby measures approx 4mm by 3mm. The setting is approx 10mm across.

Ring Size - UK K US 5 1/2 I would prefer not to size this ring.

Condition - Excellent. Wear commensurate with age. May have been resized in the past, though the evidence for this is extremely subtle.

Weight - 2.47g
