Large Victorian Garnet Knot Locket

A stunning locket from the late Victorian period, c1880s. The locket is made from 15ct gold and is a beautiful knot design. This style of locket was seen quite often during this period, though an example of this scale is fairly hard to come by. At the centre of the knot is a beautiful cabochon garnet that has a lovely deep red colour and is finished with a rope twist detail in the gold. The cabochon cut allows the light to flow through the gemstone highlighting the gorgeous depth of colour to the red. To the back, the pendant has a bevelled edge glass that has a little piece of pale silk within. It sits securely in place, though there is the possibility that a skilled goldsmith could slide it out to place your own momento inside.

The chain pictured is for display only.
